Long
overdue fight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will finally
happen on the 2nd of May this year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Many boxing fans have hoped for this to happen, perhaps waited for years for
this. And after a long time of waiting, the two legendary boxers have agreed to
fight making the wish of million fans to come true. It’s assumed it will be the
richest fight in boxing history.
As
the breaking news hits the boxing world last Friday, many already have their
bets as early as now on who will win the considered “Fight of the
Century". Although it has taken so long for both parties to arrive at a
decision that would benefit them, all of the disappointment however, was washed
away with the announcement that the fight will now at long last push through.
The people suddenly forgot how long it took for this moment to happen and all
that matters now is who is going to prove who among them is the best when it
comes to their sport.
Mayweather
(47-0, 26 KO), who is considered as the highest paid athlete, announced the
fight on Friday evening through a social media app called Shots on which we
know he's an investor. His father, Mayweather Sr., is confident enough that his
son will be victorious on this fight. Telling everyone that his son has all the
advantages against his contender; his quicker, smarter and has more knowledge.
However, on the other corner, trainer Freddie Roach said that his much more
confident with the People's Champ, Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KO). Also, the trainer
said that even before this agreement has happened, he has been watching films of
the opponent's side and is carefully studying his every move. Somehow, he also
said that Mayweather Jr., who turned 38 last Tuesday, has slowed down and that
this will be an advantage for them.
It
is said that it is Mayweather's foot and hand speed, wonderful defense and broad
knowledge versus Pacquiao's rapid punches from everyhere with his maximum
power.
However,
critics say that this match up should have happened when both of the boxers are
on their peak of career because they believed that the age factor would affect
the performance of the both parties. Saying that it should have been great when
this happened years ago when Pacquiao and Mayweather were both in their early
30s so that they still have the abilities and potentials as fighters. Back then
when the talk of the fight almost reached when both men neared to their 40s,
the people almost never believed that this could be possible anymore. Because
way back, every time this fight would almost looked to be a close deal, it
would always end up without a positive decision leaving hopes of the fans
shattered.
So
the fight that for so long had been the stuff of dreams is now a reality. It
wouldn't matter now if we waited years for these both fighters to finally
decide to be on the boxing together as long as its happening few months away
from now. This is the time when all of us will be dreading for the date of the
fight to come fast so that we would be able to support our bets on the event.
Though there are many speculations that Mayweather has the most advantage on
this fight, let us nor forget that Pacquiao have waited long enough as well
just to turn this into reality so I bet his preparing all that he can for this.
After all, he is the Manny Pacquiao, right? And as always, all the expert
boxing analyst all over the world each has a say on this but we would never
know until the night will come when both of the legendary boxers will be in the
same ring in Las Vegas.
